What is a DOT physical?
A DOT physical is a medical exam required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for anyone operating a commercial motor vehicle. It confirms you're physically qualified to drive safely, and it must be performed by a certified medical examiner listed on the FMCSA National Registry. A passing exam earns you a medical examiner's certificate — your "med card" — typically valid for up to 24 months.

WHAT TO EXPECT
About 30–45 minutes: health history, vision & hearing, blood pressure, urinalysis, hands-on exam. Pass and you leave with your certificate the same day.
